York City. Maria Ottavia presents ‘If I Were A Carpenter: A Reconstruction’ beginning Sunday July 11th.
Songs like ‘Rainy Days and Mondays’ and ‘Close to You’ instantly identify the Carpenters.
Karen Carpenters hauntingly beautiful vocals, and the musical genius of Richard Carpenters beautiful
arrangements, touched the hearts of millions around the world.
“My goal is for Carpenter fans, old and new, to embrace the Carpenters musical legacy. Discovering both
Karen and Richards’s music catalogue. I credit their influence for my musical choices and my continuing to
learn and grow as an artist.” Explains Maria Ottavia
Director: Lennie Watts and Music Director: Tracy Stark reconstructed these wonderful songs, creating a
contemporary spin to each piece. “Their collaboration is a delight. When I first presented my idea to Lennie
and Tracy, it was like magic!”
